Amati ACL 692S Professional Low C Bass Clarinet has very good sound quality in the lower registers (below the break) but suffers a little in the middle (b-e) ranges. As with any instrument this long, alignment of the barrel is crucial, even a millimeter off makes a big difference. Amati ACL 692S Professional Low C Bass Clarinet I purchased, when aligned for playing is slightly mis-aligned in appearance--the upper part of the barrel is twisted slightly to the right compared to the lower portion. It`s not really noticable except to the performer and is cosmetic only, not affecting performance. The price is right and over all I find this clarinet to be a very good value.
