I ordered Fender `50s Precision Bass off the net and didn`t know what to expect but trusted all the good reviews I had read. In the early eighties I owned the american version of this bass. Other than the chrome covers and finger rest I cant tell much diffence at all. The woodwork is every bit as good. I think what kept the price lower was using a poly finish rather than laquer but it is actually a stronger finish. I swapped out the pickup right away for a seymour duncan vintage but to be honest I couldn`t tell any difference in the sound so you might want to just go with the existing pickup. The bass sounds incredible, has a very stable neck and a beautiful paint job. I highly recommend Fender `50s Precision Bass and I am comparing it to many precisions that I have owned in the past. Great buy.
