Yamaha YCL-622II Low C Professional Bass Clarinet is a gorgeous instrument. My school happened to have four of these so I got to start bass clarinet on this amazing instrument. It has quite a price tag, but is worth it since it plays so fluidly and powerfully through all ranges. My only complaint is that it requires an unusual amount of air to get very clear sounds in the middle range (C up to Bb). The extended range allows for 4 octaves of play which is impractical in a standard arrangement, but nice if you create your own pieces. Yamaha YCL-622II Low C Professional Bass Clarinet.
